The Policy Institute, based in Helena, Montana, blends authoritative research and hands-on political engagement to create public policy based on economic justice, fair taxation, corporate accountability and environmental responsibility.

The Staff

Bob Decker, Executive Director

Bob Decker is a native of Havre, Montana, and holds a degree in civil engineering from Montana State University. After graduating from college, Bob served in Brazil with the U.S. Peace Corps. He then returned to Montana to take an engineering job with the Montana Department of Natural Resources in Helena.

Subsequent career posts included manager of a sporting goods store, two terms as a Lewis and Clark County Commissioner, newspaper columnist, and wilderness activist, including 13 years as executive director of the Montana Wilderness Association.

Bob has lived in Helena for 31 years. He is married and has two daughters.

Molly Severtson, Project Coordinator

Molly Severtson was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Montana with a double major in biology and political science. She has worked as a marketing associate at The Missoula Children's Theatre and as a reporter and photographer for The Shelby Promoter.

As a freelancer, she contributed stories to the Helena Independent Record, and worked as a print and web designer.

Molly is married and has three daughters.
